Clinical Instructor: Dr. Alan Yassin DDS MS MSD, Periodontist and Oral Surgeon, Diplomate, German Board of Oral Implantology, Diplomate, American Board of Periodontology Eligible and Fellow, International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons

Clincical Instructor: Dr. Layla Yassin DDS MS, Clinical Instructor, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department UW and Diplomate, German Board of Oral Implantology


Outline of the one-year implant dentistry course 2018-2019

•  10 sessions (Sep-June)
•  2-3 Days per Session
•  65 planned Surgeries
•  230 CE hours

•  1 Cadaver session
•  7 Hands on Days
•  Maximum of 30 participants
•  Location Washington AGD



Module 1. September 14th, 15th:

Day 1
• Introduction to the course & certificate requirements
• History of Implants, Biology and oral anatomy

Day 2
• Introduction to dental Implantology, Biomechanics and Osseointegration concept
Consultations for surgical cases.



Module 2. Oct 12th, 13th, 14th:

Day 1
• Comprehensive pre-surgical diagnosis, treatment planning, Interdisciplinary approach and general medical assessment

Day 2
• Surgical basic skills, flap management and suturing techniques
• Operating room set up, Dental assistants training session (concurrent separated half day workshop)
• Consultations for surgical cases.

Day 3
Full day HANDS ON: (Cadavers or Pig jaws) Basic surgical skills, Flap design, full and partial thickness flaps, Suturing.



Module 3. Nov 9th, 10th, 11th:

Day 1
• Basic Implant Surgery, Atraumatic Extraction, Ridge Preservation Grafting.
Consultations for surgical cases.

Day 2
Full day HANDS ON (Cadaver or Pig Jaws) surgical placement of dental implants.

Day 3
Live surgeries. 9 total surgeries from 8-4 with the Last hour reserved for discussions.



Module 4. Dec 14th, 15th:

Day 1
• Digital Implant Dentistry, computer guided implants
Half day HANDS ON (Plastic Jaws) Computer Guided Surgery
Consultations for surgical cases.

Day 2
Live surgeries. 9 total surgeries from 8-4 with the Last hour reserved for discussions.



Module 5. Jan 18th, 19th, 20th:

Day 1
Bone augmentation techniques, sinus floor elevation and bone grafting.
Consultations for surgical cases.

Day 2
Full day HANDS ON (Pig Jaws) Bone grafts, Membranes, Sinus augmentation, GBR

Day 3
Live surgeries. 9 total surgeries from 8-4 with the Last hour reserved for discussions.



Module 6. Feb 8th, 9th:

Day 1
• Soft tissue management and second stage surgeries
Half day HANDS ON (Pig Jaws) Afternoon workshop on CTG, FGG, flap management

Day 2
Live surgeries. 9 total surgeries from 8-4 with the Last hour reserved for discussions.



Module 7. March 8th, 9th:

Day 1
• Prosthetic components, Impression techniques, Temporization.
Half day HANDS ON (Plastic jaws) Restorative phase

Day 2
Live surgeries. 9 total surgeries from 8-4 with the Last hour reserved for discussions.



Module 8. April 5th, 6th:

Day 1
• Implants in the esthetic zone, Immediate implant placement, Socket Shield Technique
Half day HANDS ON (Plastic jaws) Immediate implant

Day 2
Live surgeries. 9 total surgeries from 8-4 with the Last hour reserved for discussions.



Module 9. May 10th, 11th:

Day 1
• Multiple implants placement, Full arch reconstruction, Immediate loading principles.
Half day HANDS ON (Plastic jaws) Implant supported dentures

Day 2
Live surgeries. 9 total surgeries from 8-4 with the Last hour reserved for discussions.



Module 10. June 14th, 15th:

Day 1
• Complications in Implant Dentistry, Peri-Implantitis management and implants maintenance.
• Standard of care & Malpractice, Dental insurance codes.

Day 2
• Wrap up & Exam.
